So...... It's been quite a while since i've posted but for a while I was just chuggin along with PT with not much to say so I didnt feel the need to post.
In the past 2 or 3 weeks though a decent amount has happened.
In week 7 I had a PT session where I did 45 minutes of assorted squatting exercises. This was on a Monday, Thursday night we had practice at the ARC and I rode the bike for probably 30-40 minutes with 10 minutes of that being at a pretty intense rate.
The following Monday rolls around and my knee was pretty swollen above the knee. It was swollen enough to cause for concern so she had me taking it easy and recommend that I just ice it and try to get the swelling to go down. Sadly, it didnt.
Fast forward to the next week, which was this past monday, 2/21. I had a doctors appointment to check out the swelling as well as my 8 week checkup. He said everything looked good and wanted to wait another 3-4 weeks to see if the swelling went down. I pretty much figured that it would go down since it hadn't in the previous 2 weeks. I asked him if there was any reason not to drain it and he basicall said the only reason was that people usually dont like needles. I dont give a shit. So I told him lets get it done right then. He numbed it up and drained it and it immediately looked and felt better. He also gave me a brace/sleeve to wear to try and keep some pressure on it to reduce future swelling as well as support the kneecap. It has hinges in it as well to give my knee some lateral support as well.
So now I'm being militant with my icing and trying to ice 5x a day for 20 minutes each so my knee gets pretty chilly all the time this whole week my knee has continued to feel really great and my range of motion is pretty much back to normal.
The big news is that at PT on thursday I ran on the treadmill for 3 minutes. Doesnt seem like much but since I havent ran in more than 4 months, it's a pretty big deal for me. So my plan right now is to start participating in parts of practice next week. I should be able to do any drills where I can dictate my speed and not any defense. For any drills that I can't do I think Im gunna work with the agility ladder and jump rope on the side.
Thats pretty much all I got right now. i think i should be on track to playing in the series so I'm pretty pumped about it.
Also, I'm sitting in kansas right now getting prepared to melt some faces tomorrow and sunday. KILLKILLKILL
